Max Lewis, L.Ac., C.SMA
Max Lewis studied acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine at East West College of Natural Medicine, earning a BA in Health Sciences and a Master's degree in Oriental Medicine. She worked a two-year practicum with renowned herbalist and acupuncture physician in St. Petersburg FL, Dr. Bob Linde. Max held an acupuncture internship at the HealthSouth rehabilitation hospital in Sarasota, FL, working primarily with patients recovering from stroke. She also interned for a year with Dr. Brian Lau, of Ideal Balance in Tampa, specializing in Sports Medicine Acupuncture. She went on to become certified in Sports Medicine Acupuncture in 2019, and currently assists in the SMAC program at in-person classes in NJ. In 2020-21, Max completed certification in Structural Integration (AKA Rolfing) through Anatomy Trains, studying in Maine with Thomas Myers.
Previously, Max co-owned and operated a vegan, vegetarian and macrobiotic restaurant in Provincetown, MA. Her extensive experience and knowledge of food and natural healing eventually led her to pursue a career in acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine. Additionally, Max is a long-time practitioner of Iyengar yoga, and integrates her 20 years of study into her acupuncture and body work practice.
