"I recently saw my neurosurgeon for back pain that returned 4 years after lumbar spine surgery, and pain medication was prescribed as a remedy. Hating to take pain medication, and experiencing severe pain that prevented me from sleeping, I was desperate, and decided to try an alternative treatment as a last resort. I was so very lucky to find Maxine Lewis, an Acupuncturist who specializes in orthopedic and sports medicine acupuncture. Unlike other practitioners who suggest a series of 7-10 treatments, she was forthright in telling me that after 2 treatments, I should be able to tell if acupuncture would work for me. She inspired confidence and trust.
She listened attentively to my symptoms and medical history, and after assessing me, found that I had one hip higher than the other with a forward rotation. She concluded that my pain most likely was not related to my lumbar spine as much as it was to my hip misalignment. After multiple MRI's, X-rays and Ultrasounds, not one medical doctor that I had seen previously over the years had ever identified this problem!
She took time to explain the muscle, nerve and joint involvement, and treated me with acupuncture. She explained that I might continue to experience pain for a day or two, but after 24 hours, and only one treatment, I was able to sleep and my pain was non-existent! I honestly had no expectations, but was shocked and thrilled to be pain free after one treatment. I wake up each morning now, thanking God and thanking Dr. Lewis! "
